Broadway Powerhouse Shoshana Bean brings solo tour to Philly -- 1230 pm

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Tony and Grammy Award-winning actress, songwriter, and powerhouse vocalist Shoshana Bean is bringing her first-ever solo tour to Philadelphia.

She's here for one night only on September 16 and promises it's a show fans will not want to miss.

"I love Philly," exclaims Bean. "Philly is wild. Philadelphians are insane. It's a Philly thing."

Shoshana Bean is one of Broadway's most celebrated vocalists. She's made her mark in shows like "Wicked," "Waitress," "Hell's Kitchen" and this year's smash hit "The Lost Boys," which earned her a Tony Award.

Bean is taking a small break from the show on Broadway to hit the road with a tour centered on her latest album called "Only Smoke."

She says there's something particularly special about this moment.

"This is the first time I've been able to tour, not just this album," she explains. "In my career of 20 years of releasing music, this is the first time I've actually had a dedicated string of dates in support of a project. It's probably my favorite album and certainly the one I'm the most proud of because it feels the most like me."

Curating a setlist is hard, so, for now, Bean says she's not planning on any of her Broadway hits - unless, you ask for them!

"I didn't include any theater tunes this time around, but there is a request section inside of the show," she says. "If there are things you are dying to hear, you will get the opportunity to hear a little bit of those things."

It's hard to believe, but this is Shoshana's first ever concert in Philadelphia.

"I want the same type of behavior that I experience at sporting events in Philadelphia," she laughs. "I want that kind of crowd."

Shoshana Bean is at the Miller Theater on September 16 at 7:30 p.m.
