Veteran waits 70 years for medals

HORSHAM, Pa, -- A Bucks County World War II veteran received one of the nation's highest honors and it was 70 years in the making.

90-year-old Robert Patterson was awarded the Bronze Star, along with nine other medals, at Horsham Council Chambers.

Patterson fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was discharged after the war, without receiving the medals he earned.

His daughter-in-law lobbied Senator Pat Toomey, who in turn lobbied the Army.

The Bronze Star is the military's fifth-highest combat decoration.
