Car plunges into Schuylkill River after crash in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A car went off the road and plunged into the water on Friday afternoon in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Kelly Drive.

Authorities say one person was pulled from the vehicle and taken to the hospital.

Chopper 6 was over the scene as first responders continued to search for the vehicle.

There was no immediate word on that person's condition.

It's not yet known what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
