AMBLER (WPVI) -- Copihue Bakehouse is Cote Tapia-Marmugi's love letter to her native country.
Copihue is the national flower of Chile. Scenes from Chile line the walls and Chilean favorites fill the bakery cases.
Cote calls the bakery Chile-ish because, though she was born in Chile, she was raised in the United States.
So you'll find chocolate chip cookies and scones alongside a classic Chilean lemon meringue pie, with a shortbread-like crust.
You can get snickerdoodles and mini cupcakes along with the 10 layer mil hojas. It's one of the most traditional Chilean cakes and, by far, Cote's top seller.
Along with the sweets, she makes savories like cheese empanadas and avocado toast on Irish soda bread. Everything is vegetarian.
The cafe Helado is an affogato-like treat topped with made-to-order whipped cream and vanilla wafers. You can try the malty Milo or Cote and her father's favorite, the Mote con Huesillo. It's a drink with barley on the bottom, sugar cane juice and dehydrated then rehydrated peaches. Cote describes it as unusual but tasty and a staple in Chile.
November 7th, Cote is hosting an Yerba Mate Meetup with free mate and Chilean desserts.
Then December 7th, she's teaching a cake decorating class.
She's also offering a special Thanksgiving Menu , with everything from cakes and pies to empanadas.
