Man found dead after smashing into several parked cars in Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man was found dead after a pickup truck smashed into several parked cars in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

Police say it started when the driver of a pickup truck hit a tree while driving the wrong way on the 4500 block of Castor Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

From there, authorities say the truck slammed into a number of parked cars on the 1200 block of Adams Avenue before taking off again.

The truck finally came to a stop at Kinsey and Tackawanna streets.

That's when investigators say the 53-year-old passenger apparently tried to get out and walk away, but later collapsed.

He was transported to Temple Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances of this incident remain under investigation.
