Concerns about gas odors disrupt day at 2 Bucks Co. schools

BRISTOL, Pa. (WPVI) -- The odor of natural gas was detected in two schools in Bucks County on Wednesday, leading to students being sent home early.

Action News first learned of an issue at the Snyder-Girotti Elementary School on Beaver Street in Bristol.

Officials say the odor of gas was detected near the cafeteria area.

Students were relocated to the Grundy Ice Arena, and parents were given instructions on how to safely pick up their children.

Also on Wednesday morning, students were evacuated from the Maple Point Middle School in Middletown Township.

They were moved to Core Creek Elementary School next door.

Emergency responders allowed them back into the building by midday to gather their belongings before they were dismissed for the day.

There was no indication that the two incidents were connected.
