Former Montco middle school teacher sentenced for attempted sexual assault of teenage student

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A former middle school teacher in Montgomery County will serve nine to 23 months in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old student.

John Richards was sentenced on Monday.

While working at Blockson Middle School in Norristown,Richards showed an eighth grade student a typed message on his phone.

The message indicated that he wanted to kiss her twice during an upcoming field trip he was set to chaperone.

Richards pleaded guilty back in September.
