Funeral held for former Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Former Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki was laid to rest on Thursday.

A funeral Mass was held at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Family, friends, community members and former colleagues paid tribute to Purzycki's life and legacy.

He served two terms as Wilmington's mayor from 2017 to just last year. He was instrumental in transforming the city's Riverfront.

Purzycki died on May 19 after a battle with cancer.

He was 80 years old.
