TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- New Jersey is addressing data centers as part of new legislation.
Governor Mikie Sherrill signed three bills on Tuesday, including one that she says ensures large data centers pay their fair share for energy.
Her administration says the two other bills that she signed eliminate unnecessary incentives for utility companies.
The legislation also strengthens oversight to prevent wasteful spending and encourages smarter grid upgrades.
Governor Sherrill also announced a $25 credit to all ratepayers, as well as an additional $150 credit to lower-to moderate-income families.
