SWARTHMORE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Delaware County are investigating hundreds of acts of vandalism and graffiti reported on the campus of Swarthmore College.
Pro-Palestinian messages and symbols, along with language targeting the college's Board of Managers, were found scrawled on buildings and trees across campus.
In a letter to the campus community, Swarthmore College President Val Smith said that during a 30-minute window, a small group of individuals moved through the campus and committed widespread vandalism.
Smith said crews are working to clean and repair the damage, but the process could take several days.
"I am as disappointed as I am angry at these criminal acts of cowardice," Smith said in a statement. "These six or so individuals, who made their way across campus in the dead of night while fully disguised, chose to violate not just our policies and the law, but our sense of community."
Officials have not said whether the individuals involved are Swarthmore students. The investigation remains ongoing.
