Jefferson Abington Hospital mentors students in Pre-Med Program

ABINGTON, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- For over sixty years, Jefferson Abington Hospital has been providing students a glimpse into their future medical journeys.

The "Pre-Med Program" allows students to volunteer their time to shadow professionals and learn about what they'd like to pursue in medicine.

"It's been an opportunity for undergraduates to come to the hospital and really experience firsthand what people are doing in lots of different specialties in medicine to decide if they want to embark on this very fulfilling but very long journey," said Dr. John Russell, Director of Medical Education at Jefferson Abington Hospital.

"We so need people who are bringing their heart and soul into what we're doing and will...bring those fresh eyes and enthusiasm to taking care of patients," he continued.
