Man dies after being found shot inside vehicle in Southwest Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man has died after being found shot inside his vehicle in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident occurred around 11:55 p.m. on Thursday on the 6700 block of Upland Street.

Police say the 40-year-old victim was found in the driver's seat of a Nissan Altima, unresponsive and slumped over the steering wheel with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was rushed to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he later died.

The victim's identity has not been released.

Investigators did not find any spent shell casings at the scene, but did recover a 9mm round near the victim's vehicle.

They are hoping surveillance cameras in the area can provide more details about what led up to this shooting.

No arrests have been made.

The incident remains under investigation.
