Montgomery Co. based food processing company transforming facility to save jobs

SOUDERTON, Pa. (WPVI) -- Multi-national food processing company JBS USA is transforming its facility in Souderton, Montgomery County to save hundreds of local jobs.

The $30 million investment will allow the company to take steps to become a food-ready packaging operation instead.

In June, the company announced it would end its beef processing operations on August 14, and lay off about 400 people.

Officials said it was due in part, to an historic shortage of cattle in the United States.
