MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (WPVI) -- A New Jersey man is facing charges following a neighborhood confrontation that was captured on video and later shared widely online.
Mount Laurel police said 40-year-old Thomas Diiorio has been charged with harassment and bias intimidation after an altercation on Monday evening.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of Saxony Drive. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with both parties, with police saying the dispute was allegedly related to their children.
At the time, neither party chose to pursue criminal charges.
Video of the encounter, which police said was shown to investigators this week, was posted to TikTok and has since received more than one million views.
The footage includes a man yelling, "Get the f out of here! Go! Get in your car!"
During a follow-up investigation, police reviewed the video and subsequently filed charges against Diiorio.
According to court documents, during the interaction, the defendant used the phrase "you people" while talking to the victim. Mr. Diiorio clarified that he was referring to black people when he said it - because he never seems to have these problems with white people.
Diiorio is being held in jail and has a court appearance scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
