Man charged with sexually abusing child at in-home daycare

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police in New Castle County say they are concerned there may be additional victims after a Newark man was charged with sexually abusing a child.

According to investigators, Orlando Gonzalez-Jimenez, 57, abused a child who attended an in-home daycare operated at his Newark residence.

Detectives allege that between 2016 and 2019, Gonzalez-Jimenez sexually abused a child who was younger than 5 years old at the time. Police began investigating the allegations in August 2025.

Authorities said Gonzalez-Jimenez used threats of physical violence to coerce the child into sexual activity.

Gonzalez-Jimenez was arrested on July 8, 2026. He is being charged with three felony counts of unlawful sexual contact in the first degree, one felony count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one misdemeanor count of terroristic threatening..

He is being held on $130,000 cash bail.

Investigators said they believe there may be additional victims.
