Opening rounds of PGA Championship tee off at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (WPVI) -- The quest to win the Wannamaker trophy begins Thursday morning.

The world's best golfers are in Delaware County for the PGA Championship.

Nearly 200,000 spectators are expected to attend throughout the weekend for the 108th PGA Championship.

Delaware County native, Braden Shattuck, is the first to tee off at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square for the opening round,

This is Shattuck's third PGA Championship appearance. He serves as director of instruction at Rolling Green Golf Club, where he worked with students earlier this week before heading to the major championship.

Shattuck's return to the PGA Championship follows a lengthy recovery after a 2019 car accident left him with multiple herniated disks in his lower back. He rebuilt his golf swing during rehabilitation and has since returned to competitive play.

Joining him this week is 18-year-old caddie Beau Riviere, the youngest caddie in his field. Riviere also works with Shattuck at Rolling Green Golf Club.

Attention at the championship will also focus on tournament favorites Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, both of whom spent the week playing practice rounds at Aronimink ahead of Thursday's opening round.

This is the first time the PGA Championship has returned to Delaware County since 1962.
