PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia-created skincare brand is once again headed to Hollywood, with Danucera Skincare selected for inclusion in this year's Oscars swag bags.
It marks another year that the line, founded by renowned esthetician Danuta Mieloch, will be gifted to nominees and presenters.
Mieloch, who launched Rescue Spa in Rittenhouse in 2004, said the recognition still feels surreal. When asked what it was like to learn her products had been chosen, she said, "Oh, wow. It's like, always a pinch me moment...an honor and a recognition, of course."
Danucera is the clean beauty line Mieloch developed after decades of hands-on experience.
"I've done thousands and thousands of faces, and this knowledge I put into my skin care," she said. "So my skin care gets incredible results. It's not overwhelming to skin. It's all about rebuilding and regenerating the skin and just actually educating people to be on the ritual."
When asked whether there is science behind the formulas, she added, "Oh, yeah, absolutely,"
Inside this year's Oscars gift bags are several Danucera bestsellers. She described the products as balancing toners and highlighted another favorite.
Nominees will also receive an invitation for the Danucera Sculpt and Lift facial, available at Rescue Spa's Rittenhouse or New York City locations. The treatment uses what Mieloch described as "a triple current nanocurrent, microcurrent, and picocurrent," which "work on different level of the skin. It's all about regeneration, rebuilding, the skin."
Danucera products are sold at Bergdorf Goodman and through online retailers, but Mieloch said Philadelphia remains central to the brand's identity.
"Well, I love Philadelphia. You know, Rescue's past started here, and there is something, you know, Philadelphia's it's all about love," said Mieloch.
As for the growing list of Hollywood fans, Mieloch said, "It's still humbling, but I think the ultimate goal is to encourage all the women to take care of their skin, and that's my work."
