Pa. songwriter shows people with brain injuries that 'Hope Survives'

CHESTER COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- When this Allentown woman was a teenager, she experienced a traumatic brain injury.

After using music to help her recover, she became a singer and songwriter.

"For some reason in music, I could express things that I couldn't express by speaking. And in the early stages of my brain injury rehabilitation songs just kind of started pouring out," said Cristabelle Braden.

Now, she's created a support network for people with brain injuries to rely on, known as "Hope Survives."

"The emotional and mental health really is one of the hardest parts of going through the journey. And so...we seek to fill that gap. It's all about making sure survivors and families know they're not alone, that they're seen, they're heard," said Braden.
