Police identify North Philadelphia man found mortally wounded in car

Murder suspect identified

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have identified a man shot and killed Tuesday morning in North Philadelphia.

Officers arrived at 10:36 a.m. at 29th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue to find 32-year-old Marvin Bunson of the 2000 block of Bellview Avenue.

He was in the driver's seat of a burgundy Buick sedan, suffering gunshot wounds to the chest and arms.

Medics rushed Bunson to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than 15 minutes later.


Witnesses later told police Bunson had been double-parked in the 2800 block of Cecil B. Moore when a gunman approached on the passenger side of the car and opened fire.

Bunson drove off, crashing into another vehicle at 29th and Cecil B. Moore before collapsing.

The shooter was described as a black male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Police are working to determine what motivated the shooting.
