School District of Philadelphia welcomes newest teachers, counselors at orientation

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The School District of Philadelphia is welcoming its newest group of teachers and counselors.

The district kicked off a five day orientation in West Philadelphia Thursday morning.

The event started with a performance by the All-City Drumline.

The orientation is focused on building inclusive classrooms in the nation's 8th largest school district.

Superintendent Tony Watlington says for the first time, there's a quiet room and game room to help promote self-care.
