South Jersey family pushes for Dylan's Law after son's tragic death

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- A South Jersey family is taking action to help save lives in honor of their late son.

The Geller family shared their emotional testimony in Trenton on Thursday in support of Dylan's Law.

The bill, named after Dylan Geller, would require those who rent or sell watercraft to offer what is called a "level one" flotation device.

These life jackets are specifically designed to turn an unconscious person face up and keep them safe.

Dylan died after having a seizure while water skiing with his brother.

"We're devastated. It's been 207 days since we said goodbye to our son. If this can save one family from going through this tragedy, Dylan's legacy will live on," said his mother, Dawn Geller.

The bill passed out of committee unanimously on Thursday.
