SUV stolen with teen inside in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 14-year-old is now safe after the car they were riding in was stolen.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Friday, near 17th and Clearfield in North Philadelphia.

The child was in the car, while their parent was delivering pizzas. When the adult got out of the car, the suspect jumped in and took off.

The jeep was found about a mile away. Police were able to catch the driver, who tried to run away on foot.

The 14-year-old was able to get out of the SUV at some point and reach out to his family.
