It's been 31 years since the first Toy Story hit theaters, and this time, we have brand new characters, a timely new threat, and a new toy in charge of saving the magic.
Joan Cusack returns as the voice of Jessie, Toy Story 5's heroine, ragdoll cowgirl.
Greta Lee joins the Disney Pixar legacy as a shiny new tablet named Lilypad.
6abc's Alicia Vitarelli sat down with the leading ladies at Pixar Animation Studios in California.
"It's a lady story with a lady sheriff," says Cusack.
In this film, Jessie is out to save Bonnie from the allure of a shiny new piece of technology.
"She's ready, she's tough, and she's got business to take care of," says Cusack.
Lee is thrilled to join the family as Lilypad.
"I love these movies," says Lee. "I love these characters. I was 12 when the first one came out, so I grew up with it. Now, I get to share it with my own kids, which is just totally bananas. I'm just like totally overjoyed. This is a dream come true."
For Cusack's Jessie, this is a back story.
"I was so excited they did a Jessie movie," says Cusack. "I mean, it was so thrilling, because I felt like there was a story there. And this is a story for girls. They did such a good job with it."
Jessie is on a relentless mission for magic, imagination, and real friendship.
"Everyone needs a Jessie to fight for them," Cusack.
It's a movie, they say, kids and parents will feel deeply.
"It's really deep and beautiful," says Cuasck.
"We're all genuinely so proud of this movie," adds Lee.
