Travel delay leads Nick Jonas to dine at popular Wilmington restaurant

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A travel delay brought an unexpected celebrity guest to one of Wilmington's most popular restaurants when singer and actor Nick Jonas stopped in for a meal after his trip was disrupted.

Jonas explained on social media that his travel plans were thrown off course.

"Hey, a tug boat hit the bridge...We can't continue. We got off, couldn't get an Uber. Found a local restaurant, now we're having a quick bite," he wrote on his Instagram stories.

He shared the update from inside Bardea Food and Drink.

Restaurant co-owner Scott Stein said he didn't realize the pop star was dining there until a staff member notified him. When he looked toward the front window and saw Jonas, Stein said he "couldn't believe his eyes."

Stein later learned how Jonas ended up at his restaurant.

"And the cool part is he Googled 'best restaurant in Wilmington', and Bardea Food and Drink came up, and I'm like, 'Oh my God, Nick Jonas just Googled best restaurant, and food and drink came up,' and that's super cool," he said.

Stein said the James Beard-nominated restaurant has hosted unexpected celebrity visitors before, including actress Aubrey Plaza, actor Miles Teller and President Joe Biden.

But this visit sparked a special request at home. When Stein's 18-year-old daughter heard Jonas was in the restaurant, she urged her father to get a photo - and he did.

Stein said Jonas "could not have been nicer."

Jonas' unplanned stop added another memorable moment to the restaurant's growing list of surprise celebrity encounters.
