USA still hopeful after tie game against Portugal

Monday, June 23, 2014
US supporters thrilled with 2-2 tie against Portugal.
Team USA can still advance to the second round.
Team USA supporters keep spirits high as Jorgen Klinsman's defensive strategy managed a draw against top scorer Christiano Ronaldo and the rest of the Portuguese squad.
The Yanks looked confident walking into the field after an impressive opener on June 16 and refused to fall short against the Europeans who were playing a do-or-die match.
They stepped up to the plate as the underdogs and walked out as valid contenders into the 2014 second-round draw.
In Rio de Janeiro, cheers poured out in support for USA as crowds chanted, "I believe that we will win," in unison.
Red, white and blue flags waved in the air with support from Argentinian, Chilean and Brazilian spectators also rooting for USA in this decisive game.
Lines into the Copacabana Fan Zone were halted for several minutes after large crowds rushed to see the match.
The tie drew loud roars for a team many critics predicted faced eminent death in the first round.
2 weeks into World Cup, USA is standing strong, with the possibility of a spot in the Group of Death. They're scheduled to face Finalist favorite Germany in a fight for place.
A win against the Germany will guarantee their spot for the second stage. Moving forward on a tie or loss would depend on goal differentials between the Ghana and Portugal game.
