Video shows dramatic rescue of man trapped in burning Exeter Township home

EXETER TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Body camera video captured the dramatic rescue of a man from a burning home in Berks County.

The man, who uses a wheelchair, became trapped as a fire tore through his home on Claire Drive in Exeter Township last Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the residence. A neighbor told firefighters that he and others attempted to rescue the man by breaking a window, but were unable to get him out.

Firefighters then used that same window to enter the home and were able to pull the man to safety.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and was released later that night.
