Man accused of stabbing girl, 14, at Willow Grove Park Mall: Police

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old girl after an argument at the Willow Grove Park Mall.

Angel Ortiz, 23, is charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.

Police say Ortiz and the victim did not know each other before the incident.

Abington Township police were called to the mall around 2:27 p.m. Wednesday.

Police told Action News the teen victim was part of a group of people who got into a dispute with Ortiz.

The teen took a swing at Ortiz, police said, and that's when Ortiz stabbed her.

The girl was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

"Willow Grove Park thanks our property team and local law enforcement for resolving this in a swift manner," said a mall spokesperson in a statement.

Ortiz was being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
