EAST GOSHEN TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A Chester County teacher stands accused of having a sexual relationship with a student back in 2008.

Police say Coatesville Area Senior High School English teacher Mark Hostutler, 35, also provided alcohol to the 17-year-old while she was one of his students.

He also coaches the Junior Varsity boys' basketball team at West Chester East High School.

Action News was there as Hostutler appeared for his arraignment on Friday. He had no comment.

The victim reported the incidents to police on January 14th of this year.

She allegedly told police Hostutler would pick her up at her home, then take her to his home on Highspire Drive in East Goshen Township.

Hostutler allegedly gave her alcohol - an Amaretto and Coke - calling it his "signature drink."

They then had sex, she said, and he took her home.

The victim told police this happened three more times.

She says one incident happened at the home of Hostutler's parents in West Brandywine Township.

All of the incidents happened in June, 2008, the victim said.

Hostutler is charged with corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

He is free on $20,000 bail.

Hostutler is a former newspaper reporter who published several well-reviewed books on high school athletics.

Some Coatesville students on Friday said Hostutler is a good teacher who seemed to love his work.

"Students love him, he was always nice. He was never ignorant toward you when he subbed for your classes. He was a pleasant guy," said Salim Madnat.

The Coatesville School District said it is beginning the suspension process of Hostutler with the intent to fire him. He had been working there since 2007.

The West Chester School District said he is not permitted on school property or "permitted access to any of our students."
