BOLINGBROOK, Ill. -- When the Blackhawks raised the Stanley Cup in victory, one fan had a winning idea - he thought the Cup would make the perfect backdrop for his wedding.
Aurora couple Jim Anderson and Jeanne Hansen tied the knot Thursday in front of Lord Stanley - a pretty impressive guest of honor.
"That cup is just beautiful and I'm so honored to be in front of it, and to tell him how much I love him with our closest family," Hansen said.
Hansen, 41, and Anderson, 42, said "I do" at the Bolingbrook Country Club, where the Cup made a public appearance and stood witness to the happy moment.
"The first thing I said is, I told Jeanne that I would cross check anyone that got in our way. Whatever way the puck bounces I would not stray," Anderson said.
Back in 2013 when the Blackhawks won, Anderson proposed to Hansen as they took a picture by the iconic trophy. And there, he made a promise to marry her in front of the Cup if the team ever won again.
So needless to say, the lead-up to this season's victory was a nail biter.
"It was a few nights before the championship game that we said, 'Oh my gosh, if they win this we have to get married, so we had about a month to plan," Hansen said.
So now, meet Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, who made their wedding announcement look like a NHL Playoffs ticket.
The bride's tiara boasted feathers reminiscent of the Blackhawk head dress with bouquets to match - red roses of course.
And to finish off the look, specially made sneakers that read "One Goal."
"We made the joke, what do we do next if they win the Cup? What kind of pic are we gonna take in front of the Cup now? And I don't think we can top it," Anderson said.
After the wedding, about 7,000 people lined up to see the Cup. Each picture cost $20 and the proceeds are all going to local charities.
