New property tax reassessments from the City of Philadelphia have left some residents worried about rising costs.
Philadelphia Councilmember Rue Landau has proposed a bill that would require commercial tax preparers to disclose their fees and provide free alternative options to potential customers.
The Property Tax Rent Rebate program's income limit has also increased to $45,000, which will allow more people to become eligible.
Council leaders said this decision comes after Prospect Medical Holdings, which owns Taylor Hospital with the Crozer Health System, is late on paying taxes totaling $487,000.
The borough says Prospect Medical Holdings, which owns Taylor Hospital, has not paid any of its taxes in 2023.
The court ruled that Minnesota violated the constitutional rights of Geraldine Tyler by taking her property without paying "just compensation."
