Five football players for Delaware State University are facing charges for two burglaries at the University of Delaware.

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Five football players for Delaware State University are facing charges for two burglaries at the University of Delaware.

The suspects were identified as:

Cameren Judge, 21, of New Britain, Conn., a senior DB for the team.

Gabriel Sherrod, 20, of Dover, Del., a sophomore WR for the team.

Rashawn Barrett, 20, of Montclair, N.J., a junior DB for the team.

Shubasz Gordon, 23, of Bloomfield, Conn. a senior and DL for the team.

Malik Golson, 19, of Dover, Del. a rising sophomore and WR for the team.

University of Delaware Police say Judge, Sherrod, Barrett and Gordon were responsible for the actual burglaries at the Christiana West Tower residence hall on May 18th.

Golson has been charged with receiving stolen property.

Video game systems and laptop computers were stolen from two different apartments in the residence hall, police said.

Police say the thefts had nothing to do with the schools' rivalry.

"I think this was just a crime of opportunity for some folks who obviously made some bad decisions," said Chief Patrick Ogden, University of Delaware Police.

The players were on campus attending an event open to all college students.

"It's a multicultural Greek congress and they have an end of the year party for people to relax and hang out with their friends," said Immaani Fiton.

Students took the after party to Christiana West. A fab is needed to get into the building but students say it's not uncommon for people to hold the door open behind them.

"While looking for the party, they were pulling on doors and they came across doors that were open and they just walked in," said Chief Ogden.

Police were able to use the 'Find my iPhone' app to track one laptop to Delaware State University, where they found the computer and the missing PlayStation.

Two computers are still missing. Police are hoping to make another arrest soon.

"I'm surprised that it could happen on a day that everyone was around and nobody would hear anything or says anything," said Fiton.

"The fact that someone can get upstairs and into someone's room and break in without anyone knowing is kinda scary," said Danny Auerbach.

Sherrod, Barrett, and Golson are the only suspects who were still eligible to play next year.

Delaware State University officials tell Action News that the schools' judicial affairs process will start reviewing the situation immediately.

There is a code of conduct required of students and if a violation is found, all five players could be kicked out of school.

All were issued no contact orders with the victims and were banned from UD property, University of Delaware Police said.
