Meet Tony: Philadelphia's Tofani door guy

Tony Trov is the owner of Philadelphia's, South Fellini, a store known for its Philadelphia cultural references. But Tony has another passion: Tofani doors. Tofani doors were made by Arthur and Liberata Tofani in South Philadelphia around 100 years ago, and when you walk through the neighborhood, the doors are very recognizable.

"The older ones have a turn of the century look to them they were made by Arthur," explains Trov. "When he passed away, his wife Liberata took over the company, and her designs are a lot more midcentury modern." Trov has made it his mission to save these doors, often grabbing them from the trash in hopes he can find them a new home. He's known as the 'Tofani door guy' and will receive Instagram DMs when someone spots a door.

Recently, Trov partnered with Mug Coffee and Clay to host Tofani door ceramic classes. Trov teaches the history of the doors. Guests can make a mini door of their dreams out of clay with hooks to hang keys from. The classes have been selling out.
