Historic Lincoln Flag draws visitors to Milford's Columns Museum

MILFORD, Pa. (WPVI) -- In this edition of One Tank Trips, we're traveling to a town that holds a powerful piece of American history.

The Columns Museum of the Pike County Historical Society is home to one of the nation's most somber and significant artifacts.

Known as the Lincoln Flag, historians say it is the flag that cushioned President Abraham Lincoln's head as he lay dying at Ford's Theatre after being shot in 1865.

The museum is located in Milford, Pike County - about a 2.5-hour drive from Philadelphia.

Action News photojournalist Tom Kretschmer takes us inside the museum to share how the flag came to reside in this small community and what lessons it continues to offer visitors today.
