South Jersey students build LEGO robots to reach world championship

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Brick by brick, they've built bots worth bringing to the world stage.

Now, these South Jersey students are preparing for their greatest test in robotics yet.

The FIRST LEGO Challenge Team #18249, 'Lunatecs in Training,' is part of South Jersey Robotics. Together, they created two LEGO robots and an innovative floatation system.

Local success has propelled them to The FIRST® Championship, which will take place in Houston, Texas on April 29 to May 2, 2026.

The South Jersey high-school robotics team #316 'Lunatecs' also qualified. After a record-breaking season and a fourth Impact Award victory, they too seek to claim a top prize in Houston.
