Action News director retires after 29 years

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's a bittersweet day for our Action News family.

Director Mike Katz is retiring after 29 years.

On Friday afternoon, we gathered to celebrate him in our newsroom.

Mike is calm, witty and extraordinarily talented. He has directed thousands of newscasts, including a majority of our 6 p.m. broadcasts over his years at Action News.

He has also played a pivotal role in introducing new technology and operations that make our newscasts possible.

We will miss you, Mike! Congratulations on your retirement!
