WARMINSTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A stretch of Route 263 in Warminster, Buck County was dedicated Sunday morning in memory of a fallen Plymouth Township officer on what would've been his 37th birthday.

Officer Brad Fox's family, including his widow Lynsay and two young children, Kadence and Brad Jr., helped unveil the plaque renaming a portion of York Road in his memory. It is now known as the Bradley M. Fox Memorial Highway.

The family received a replica of their own and also had the honor of being the first to travel the newly-renamed road.

Officer Fox was killed two years ago in Plymouth Township.

Fox grew up in Warminster and traveled this section of highway to get the ice rink where he played while he was a student at William Tennent High School.

At the emotional dedication ceremony held at the Hartsville Fire Company, his former coach Joseph Pail said even back in high school, it was easy to see what kind of person Fox was.

"Brad simply looked at me and said, 'Whatever you need coach. You'll just have to teach me how,'" Paul said.

Fox went on to join the Marines, serving two tours of duty in Iraq before becoming police officer.

Plymouth Township Police Chief Joseph Lawrence said Fox epitomized a famous quote from General Patton.

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived," Chief Lawrence said.

A number of local law-makers attended the dedication, which was sponsored by State Representative Bernie O'Neill.

"I am hopeful that everyone who uses this portion of Route 263 will remember and acknowledge the sacrifices he made to protect the community and his country," said Rep. O'Neill.

Throughout the ceremony, speakers also remembered the two Pennsylvania State troopers who were shot Friday night, one of them fatally.
