Woman killed in Point Breeze shooting

POINT BREEZE - April 12, 2009 The shooting happened in the 2200 block of Mifflin Street shortly before midnight. That's when police say an unidentified man burst into a home and shot a woman in her stomach.

The victim was later identified as 21-year-old Tamara Johnson from the 2100 block of Ellsworth Street.

Johnson was rushed from the scene to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she underwent emergency surgery. However, despite doctors' efforts the woman died.

Police have a suspect in custody but he has not yet been formally charged with the murder.
