Man, 70, dies after being found shot inside crashed BMW in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 70-year-old man has died after he was found shot inside a vehicle following a crash in Philadelphia's Hunting Park neighborhood.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Friday to the 4300 block of North 7th Street, where they found the victim inside a gray BMW that had crashed into a parked vehicle.

Investigators believe the man was driving when he was shot once in the chest.

"It looks like he was shot while driving the vehicle and then continued driving, possibly to try to get help, and eventually crashed into a vehicle," Philadelphia Police Inspector D F Pace said. "There was no one else in the vehicle. We have yet to locate a crime scene at this time."

Pace said preliminary evidence indicates the victim was shot only once.

The man has not been identified. Authorities said he was a Philadelphia resident and the registered owner of the BMW.

No arrests have been made.
