NORTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police said a gunman dressed as a pizza delivery driver shot and injured a man inside a Northeast Philadelphia home.

It happened on the 200 block of Garrett Street around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, a man knocked on the door of the home and asked if anyone had ordered pizza.

The homeowner said no and attempted to close the door. Police said the man then tried to force his way into the home and a struggle ensued.

Authorities said when the man saw a pit bull running toward him from inside of the home, he started to run away and fired two shots back at the victim, with one bullet striking the man in the lower back.

He was taken to Einstein Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

The victim's wife was upstairs at the time of the shooting. She was not injured.

Investigators said they found a pizza box with a half-eaten pizza inside at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
