3 men shot during robbery in Trenton neighborhood

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Three men are hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a robbery in Trenton.

It happened at 3:00 a.m. Monday at Washington Street and Roebling Avenue.

Police tell Action News two armed suspects approached four men and announced a robbery.

The suspects then opened fire, hitting three of the men before fleeing.

Neighbors said they heard some kind of commotion outside earlier, then looked outside and saw multiple police vehicles.

"We heard a truck backing up. It sounded like a tow truck," said Shannon Lyons. "Then we looked out the windows and there were police lights everywhere.... We saw a person getting put on a gurney."

Two victims were shot in the back. The extent of injuries to the third victim was not clear.

All three were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

There was no immediate word on their conditions.

Police continue to search for suspects.
