One person is dead and four others, including a 4-year-old boy, are injured following a crash in Washington Township, NJ.

WASHINGTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- One person is dead and four others, including a 4-year-old boy, are injured following a crash in Washington Township, Gloucester County early Friday morning.

Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Police say it was 12:49 a.m. when a Nissan Maxima traveling south along the 200 block of Delsea Drive, slamming head-on into a northbound Honda Civic.

26-year-old Michael Williams of Woodbine was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams' four-year-old son, who was in the driver-side passenger seat of the Civic, and a second passenger, identified as 24-year-old Marcus Owens of Millville, were injured in the crash.

Also injured was 27-year-old James Catona, who police say was behind the wheel of the Nissan. A passenger in Catona's car suffered minor injuries.

Catona and the two injured passengers in the Civic were transported to Cooper Medical Center in Camden for treatment.

Police say Catona has been charged with vehicular homicide and two counts of assault by auto. In addition, he was charged with one count of hindering apprehension resulting from statements he allegedly made to police.

Bail for Catona was set at $150,000 cash.
