Fire damages apartment building in Mount Airy
One man is hospitalized after an early Saturday morning fire in the East Mount Airy section of Philadelphia.

WEST MOUNT AIRY (WPVI) -- One man is hospitalized after an early Saturday morning fire in the East Mount Airy section of Philadelphia.

It happened before 1 a.m. at the Johnson Apartments on the 1300 block of East Johnson Street.

The fire started on the first floor then spread to other units.

The victim in his late 50s, suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to Einstein Medical Center for treatment.

The Red Cross is assisting twelve displaced residents.

The apartments sustained smoke and water damage.

Firefighters haven't determined the cause.
