CANBY PARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police say two suspects barged into an apartment building in New Castle County, Delaware, shooting a 20-year-old man inside.

It happened at 11:05 p.m. Monday at the Mill Creek Village Apartments on the unit block of Scarborough Drive.

First responders arrived on the scene and found the victim shot multiple time.

He was rushed to an area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Police later learned that the attackers gained access to the apartment by forcing their way in as another resident was trying to leave.

The 20-year-old was shot as he scuffled with the intruders. Both suspects fled after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

New Castle County Police called in K-9 units and a helicopter in an effort to track down the suspects.

Both remain on the loose.

Police describe them as black males in their early 20s wearing all dark clothing.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective David DiNardo directly at DPDiNardo@nccde.org or New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800.
