Suspect shot, killed during attemped robbery in Chester, police say

Police say a would-be robber was shot during a confrontation with the victim in Chester.

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Chester, Delaware County say it appears a man being targeted by a would-be robber put an end to the crime by shooting and killing the suspect.

It happened before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday on 7th Street.

Officers arrived to find the suspect fatally wounded on the street.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man who shot him told police he was being robbed when he opened fire.

That man was not hurt, and was taken to police headquarters for questioning.

So far, no charges have been filed.
