Police say an elderly man was killed trying to chase down a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a 70-year-old man was killed trying to chase down a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on Belmont and Girard avenues.

Police say the victim apparently slipped and fell underneath the rear wheels of the Route 15 bus, which was traveling westbound on Girard Avenue at the time of the accident.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Philadelphia police investigating.

The man's name has not been released.
