6abc Action News unveils new set. Brian Taff reports during Action News at 4 p.m. on June 26, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you watched Action News on Monday, you might have noticed that things look a little different.

We have debuted our new set and graphics at 6abc...and we're really excited about it!

We took the bow off of this project during Action News at Noon and we're so glad to finally share this with you.

It's big, it's bold, and it's brand new. It's a stunning state of the art backdrop to 51 hours of newscasts each and every week.

Our new set is the culmination of two years of planning and execution.

TIME LAPSE: Building the new Action News set

First, mapping out the infrastructure to house the newest technology in news gathering and weather forecasting then translating what's on paper into production.

And yes, it's a huge job.

"We have an amazing group of people here from our studio crew that helped in the construction to our brilliant engineering staff that figured out how to make all the technology work, and to our really talented art department that created this fresh, new, stunning graphics look," Executive Producer and Project Manager Matt Dennis said.

The set is shot by nine high definition cameras and lit by hundreds of energy efficient LED lights.

It includes 52 monitors, all of them fed by miles of wires, and spread out of over three enormous video walls.

Each area is specially designed to allow us new ways to bring the day's news home to you in the most effective way technology now allows.

But our goal was never to be simply fancy. First and foremost, it is to be functional.

"For us, it's all about the viewers. To be able to have all these video walls will help us use video in a better and more complete way, and to be able to communicate better with the viewers exactly what the story is," Vice President and News Director Tom Davis said.

For the last several days, our news teams have been rehearsing newscasts, exploring every corner of this cutting edge set.

As always, our goal is to get it right.

And now, we're ready!

And here's the truth: We hope you like our new home as much as we do, but at Action News, it's never about any single person or any high tech set.

It's about the story, and your trust in us to tell it correctly. So consider this just one more tool in maintaining that trust.
