Singer Jeff Healy has died

ATLANTA, Georgia - March 3,2008 His publicist says Healey died after a long battle with cancer yesterday in Toronto. He was 41.

Healey is probably best known for the 1989 hit "Angel Eyes."

Healey had a rare form of cancer as a baby that left him blind. He started playing guitar when he was 3 and played it across his lap.

He was signed after appearing in the film "Road House." Later in his career, Healey hosted radio programs in Canada that focused on jazz. Healey had had surgery early last year to remove cancer from his legs and later from both lungs, but the disease was too aggressive to stop. Healey was about to release his first album in eight years, "Mess of Blues," which is set to come out April 22nd.
