Police reports kept from Fiocco's parents

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - May 20, 2008 A state judge denied the request by the family of John Fiocco Jr. to see police investigative records into his death.

The 19-year-old's body was found in a Pennsylvania landfill in April 2006, about a month after he disappeared after returning from an off-campus party.

State police discovered large amounts of Fiocco's blood around his dorm's trash compactor. Authorities have looked at the possibility that he fell down the trash chute, but have said they found no evidence in the chute or on his body to support that theory.

The family has sued the college, accusing it of not securing its trash-compacting system.
