Pa. attorney general Tom Corbett wins

HARRISBURG, Pa. - November 4, 2008 - Morganelli kept the race tight, but couldn't become the first Democrat in state history to win the election for the state's highest law enforcement post.

Morganelli had accused the Republican attorney general of mishandling an investigation into alleged corruption in the state General Assembly. The investigation, so far at least, has only targeted Democrats.

Corbett, a former federal prosecutor for western Pennsylvania, built his first-term record around the ongoing corruption probe and stepped-up enforcement of laws against Internet sex predators, drug dealers and scam artists who prey on senior citizens.
