The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Derrick Hoey of E. 10th Street in Wilmington, Delaware.
It was the city's first homicide of 2009. Last year, Wilmington recorded a record 26 homicides.
Detectives are investigating the shooting.

Police were called to a home in the 700 block of N. Church St.
around 5 a.m. The victim was found inside the house and taken to a
hospital, where he died.
